What was the best movie you saw this year?
[11:48] craig911: I got to pet a manatee yesterday
[11:48] craiguf911: actually, a few different ones.
[11:48] Gabrielle Connie: whats a manatee?
[11:49] craiguf911: the animal on that postcard I sent you
[11:49] Gabrielle Connie: ah ok
[11:49] Gabrielle Connie: did you name them?
[11:49] craiguf911: big water mammals we have here
[11:49] craiguf911: no
[11:49] Gabrielle Connie: hehe ok
[11:50] Gabrielle Connie: ttyl
[11:50] craiguf911: e-mail on the way with picture
[11:50] Gabrielle Connie: ah many thanks!
I've not written cards or sent presents to go -
I've not even said thanks for presents from last year -
or even for birthday presents from yesteryear!
I'm behind in wishing everyone good cheer!
If I was Santa I'd be fired for not being all here.
What shall I do to make up for this lack?
Surely it is too late to write so many people back -
a prayer, a thought, good intentions will do?
I can hope for as much ... hmm ... what say you?
Do you think if I wish no one Merry Christmas this year -
but secretly wish it to all I hold dear -
that when asked why I said nothing that they could hear -
that it would be ok to say "The intention was there."?
I think not, for even though I'm willing to cut people slack,
I don't think I could do so for my obvious lack
of thoughtfulness and consideration this time,
and not having spent on presents even a dime!
No, I must come up with something else right now -
something that they'll receive and say wow -
something that can arrive in an instant indeed -
and hopefully satisfy some deep felt need.
What could do this job which I seek?
Not flowers or candies or a great tasting leek.
I know! I'll give them what I can do well -
a navel-gazing poem that this story does tell -
of how I've got nothing to give them right now -
and certainly not anything that says "wow".
So hopefully the recipients of this poem will indeed
appreciate that it was written to satisfy this need
to express my intentions through more than just silence
and wish you all Merry Christmas on this night hence.
And as this poem comes to an end,
here's my wish to you my friend -
that as this year comes to a close,
that we be able to avoid this year's lows
when next year begins it begins anew -
soft pure and white like fresh fallen snow or morning dew.
A new year possesses myriad possibilities you see,
and I wish you the very best possibilities that be!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!
- Andrew
